Wilma Gordon Coleman, MA, LPC

 

Mrs. Coleman is a CT State licensed Counselor, also referred to as a Psychotherapist.  She feels it a privilege to come alongside and counsel people who are often at some of the lowest and most vulnerable points in their lives.  She draws on her knowledge, abilities, skills, training, and insights, both biblically and secularly in her practice.  The daughter of a Pastor, she learned firsthand the value of godly counsel — and so has enhanced her professional training through the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation, biblical training from the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors, and as a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, since 1994. 

 

Wilma considers herself a wounded healer, who comforts others with the same comfort God has given me. I encourage counselees often using a favorite life verse that I try to stand in, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”  (Proverbs 3:5-6).

 

“I integrate varied counseling interventions, but primarily  utilize cognitive behavioral therapy.  I assist clients in discovering new insights and finding the mistaken beliefs and/or underlying causes of difficulties. I believe we renew our minds by allowing God to bring to the surface the lies we have mistakenly accepted, replace them with the truth to know  His transforming grace, and develop or strengthen, our relationship with Him thru our trials.”
